The Hindu calendar divides the year into six Ritus (seasons) rather than the four used in the Western calendar: Vasant (spring), Grishma (summer), Varsha (monsoon), Sharad (autumn), Hemant (pre-winter), and Shishir (winter). Each Ritu spans roughly two lunar months and carries its own significance for choosing auspicious timings (muhurat) for ceremonies, travel, and other important life events. This calculator tells you which Ritu a given date falls within.
